Rome

Someone asked me if I had some sketches of Rome and while going through heaps of sketches I found these I had done way back in 2008 when I had the exhibition at the Chiesa degli Artisti.

Santi Patroni & Venite Adoremus

Finally dates have been confirmed. Between the 23rd October 2009 and 11th November 2009 I shall be representing Malta in the exhibition titled “Patroni d’Europa e dei Paesi dell’Unione Europea”. The exhibition, which is going to be held at the Chiesa Degli Artisti in Piazza del Popolo, Rome, is a collection of paintings representing the Patron Saints of European countries. The exhibition will be also showing in Sicily from the 6th of December 2009 to 31st of January 2010. At the moment I started work on a painting depicting St. Paul. This is my first involvement in an exhibition with a religious theme but, like every new challenge, I am finding it interesting and I'm enjoying it.
Also, from the 11th December 2009 to the 6th of January 2010 I shall be taking part in an exhibition titled Venite Adoremus, also at the Chiesa Degli Artisti. In this Christmas themed collective exhibition I shall be exhibiting a landscape, portraying the Chiese Gemelle, in Piazza Del Polpolo. I am basing my piece on studies I did during my last solo exhibition at the Chiesa Degli Artisti.

The Roman Experience

The last few months were just a rollercoaster ride. So many things have changed in my life, some for the better others not, both on a personal and professional level. The personal will definitely remain personal, but will try to make an extra effort to keep up with the professional realm here on this blog.

As you might already know, last month I had an exhibition at the Chiesa Degli Artisti, in Piazza del Popolo, Rome. The experience was incredible, not just for the fact that I was exhibiting in Rome, the eternal city, but also for the people I met, the friends I made (esp. Gabi, Roberta, Alex, Daniela and Gianni) and the valuable contacts I made.

A big thanks goes Stefania and Alberto, for their hospitality and valuable help without which the exhibition would have never taken place. Words are not enough to thank them for all they’ve done for me during my stay in Rome. Wish to thank also Ms. Stefania Severi, the curator for the exhibition at the Chiesa Degli Artisti, for all her help and patience. All in all I think the Roman experience was quite a success. Now starts the real work, hopefully in the next couple of years I will be there again.

Now its time to work on future projects. In the first weeks of March 2009 I shall be participating in a collective exhibition organised by the Tango community here in Malta. I am also working on a solo exhibition of works in Ink which shall be sometime next year. There is also the possibility that in May and December 2009 I shall involve myself in exhibitions in Rome. Will obviously keep you posted.

Chiesa Degli Artisti - Rome

And finally the dates are confirmed too!!! 4th October 2008 will be the opening day of my exhibition in Rome. The exhibition, which i still have to find a name for, will stay open for two weeks i.e. until Sunday 19th October 2008. Obviously for most of the works that will be exhibited there i haven't even bought the canvas yet. Still lots of work to do...... and in April I will be exhibiting at Vee Gee Bee in Valletta. Well a few sleepless nights should help.

In the meantime if anyone has any suggestions for a name for the exhibition.............

Chiesa degli Artisti (one on left) - piazza del Popolo

Today i recieved some good news. Finally i have the dates for my exhibition at the Chiesa degli Artisti, Piazza del popolo, Rome. It will be held during the first couple of weeks of October 2008. So, in fourteen months time i shall be exhibiting in the eternal city. For those of you who think that 14 months is a long time, let me assure you it is not. This means that I have to prepare 3 paitings a month for the next 10 months, without counting the works i still have to prepare for my upcoming exhibition which will be held on the 29th of September 2007, Art...e, Gozo.

I rarely mention people on this blog but today i have to make an exception. I have to thank Stefania Marassi and Alberto Palmieri for their help in making this exhibition possible. Without their contribution the exhibition in Rome would not materialise. Thanks guys, much obliged.

Meds

According to today's Times of Malta, the price of a number of medicines sold on the local market should go down by the end of summer. Apparently the Working Committee on the Pricing of Medicinal Products has found that, during an exercise to compare local prices with the average in the EU, while a number of products were selling at prices below the average, others were more expensive. So now the Working committee is going to ask the medicinal products importers to reduce prices to the EU's average.

So far so good. The only problem is that the average Maltese paycheck comes nothing close to the average paycheck in the EU. and what about Maltese pensions, are they close to the average in the EU?

Caput Mundi

What an eventful week! I have just arrived from a week at the citta eterna, Rome. Though this is my third time to the city, it was my first occasion that I really had the time to have a good look around and I did. My feet are still hurting from all the walking that we did. I cannot count the number of churches I went into, the remains I saw, the palaces, piazzas and monuments. Each corner you turn, a new surprise. Rome is just wonderful.

Apparently, even here a lot of things happened. More people lost at sea, the formation of a new (extreme) right political party, the arrest of a policeman for hitting an old lady, etc. etc. Unfortunately, I became aware of these things not because I was following the local news but because Italians have told me about them. We are beginning to be famous for the wrong reasons.

Here are some photos I had while I was there
